This weekend Kelowna Divers were able to get 14 scuba divers all aboard the Sea Dragon Charter in Howe Sound Vancouver. After leaving Kelowna at 03:30am in convoy we were very pleased to meet Kevin Breckman, Jan Breckman and Christina McKee from the charter who took excellent care of us throughout the whole day. They are a very safety conscious, highly organised outfit that were able to cater to our group of divers who were a mixed bunch of very experienced to novice divers. We were pleased to meet a few other divers from the local area and join forces for an epic after party in the Olive and Anchor.

The diving visibility was affected by the early beautiful BC weather above the water meaning that we had about 40 feet/13 meters of low visibility to get through before hitting the clear waters beneath. Once beneath the waters and the pea soup condition we all enjoyed some good diving. As soon as the HMCS Annapolis hits the waters in this area we will be back to enjoy some more diving with this great bunch of people and dive charter operation. A massive shout out to the Sea Dragon guys and gals. We will see you very soon.

A huge thank you to all the drivers of the group Mark Beaney, Brad Tingstad, Tim Butt, Becky Butt and Dale McKee. It was an early start to say the least and we were still going well into the evening. Thank you to the whole group for joining us on this wonderful weekend and for making it so much fun. KD would not enjoy it any other way but with you guys. Huge shout out to Dwayne Vincent from Salmon Arm who we could not do without, his diving buddy Andrew Bull from Kelowna, Mickey Harris and Hugo Delaune from Kelowna UBCO who are the founding members of the new dive club UBCO Scuba, Franki Beaney our first class photographer and almost a diver, Susan Tingstad our gorgeous superstar “Scuba Suse” who just rocks drysuit diving, Graeme Barber who is a commercial diver with Inland Divers, Amy Oxox our newest friend and Instructor from Vancouver who has introduced us to the critters below the ocean and Jennifer Titus joining us from Ferndale, Washington whose passion for the sport and friendliness was second to none.

Massive congratulations to Hugo Delaune who completed his PADI Advanced Open Water at the weekend in somewhat difficult conditions. Both him and Mickey will be excellent ambassadors of the sport and as the founding members of the UBCO Scuba Kelowna Divers are very proud to be associated with both of them. Well done Hugo now we just need to get your keys, phone and Mickey’s Go pro back to you.

If you are thinking about this sport and joining our great group of divers and growing club don’t think about it just come and meet us. We are out on Lake Okanagan or travelling to other great dive spots that BC has to offer from Salmon Arm, Pavilion Lake, Johnson Lake, Kettle River or the BC Coast to name just a few. Scuba Diving is a sport that will allow you to discover the under water world and the critters that inhabit it.  You will join a group that is welcoming and friendly with all divers and that encourages new divers with their own diving progression.  You will make life long friends through the sport and inevitably have some great fun times. All this and travel the world with this fabulous sport.  We love this sport and all that BC Diving has to offer. Join Kelowna Divers or call us on 250-215-7871 for a chat about diving options.  Keep an eye out for upcoming diving events and trips on our website and Facebook page.
